The Lease of Murgabeda iron ore mine over 15.378 ha. was initially granted in favour of Sri N. Patnaik.

Later the ownership was transferred in the name of his younger brother Sri D.R. Patnaik.

This mining lease was executed for a period of 30 years w.e.f 03.07.1976.

The tenure of the lease has expired on 02.07.06.

The renewal application was submitted on 24.05.2005 for a period of 20 years and the lease has been renewed for a further period of 20 years.
